02nd Majlis – Hussainiyat and Mehdaviyat

The Relationship Between the Uprising of Imam Hussein (A.S) and the Government of Imam Mahdi (A.S)
The primary reason and motivation behind the uprising of Imam Hussein (A.S) is one single cause, and the other aspects that are often mentioned are branches and subcategories of this main cause, which is the preservation of the teachings of Islam, spreading it in society, and explaining and clarifying its principles for the people. Since religion is essentially a reflection of the innate nature of humanity, this goal can be referred to as "awakening and enlightening the people." As we read in the Ziyarat Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (A.S): "O Allah, I bear witness that Imam Hussein (A.S) shed his pure blood for Your sake to rescue Your servants from ignorance and misguidance."
From this, we can understand the deep connection between the uprising of Imam Hussein (A.S) and the uprising of Imam Mahdi (A.S). The appearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S) and his government are, in fact, the fulfillment and continuation of Imam Hussein's (A.S) uprising.
To clarify this, there are a few points to consider:
- All the Imams (A.S) are a single light with one purpose and no difference between them. Their approach to action differs based on the circumstances of the time. If Imam Sadiq (A.S) or any other Imam had been present during the time of Imam Hussein (A.S), they would have acted in exactly the same way Imam Hussein (A.S) did.
- Regarding the connection between Imam Mahdi (A.S) and Imam Hussein (A.S), there are several points to consider:A. From the perspective of the Qur'an: Numerous verses from the Holy Qur'an, according to the interpretations of the Imams (A.S), emphasize this strong connection. For example, in the interpretation of the verse: "And the one who is killed unjustly, We have given authority to his guardian (but let him not exceed limits in retribution), for indeed, he will be aided." (Qur'an 17:33), Imam Reza (A.S) says: "This verse refers to Imam Hussein (A.S) and Imam Mahdi (A.S)." Imam Baqir (A.S) further explains that the verse refers to Imam Hussein (A.S), who was martyred unjustly, and we, as his family, are his rightful heirs; when our Qa’im (Imam Mahdi) rises, he will avenge the blood of Imam Hussein (A.S)."B. From the perspective of Hadiths: Numerous narrations state that Imam Mahdi (A.S) will be the avenger of Imam Hussein’s (A.S) blood. Imam Hussein (A.S) says to his son Imam Zain al-Abidin (A.S): "By God, my blood will never cease to flow until Allah sends Mahdi (A.S)." In the Du'a al-Nudbah, it is mentioned: "Where is the one who will avenge the blood of the martyrs of Karbala?" Additionally, in the Ziyarat Ashura, we read: "I ask Allah to grant me the opportunity to rise with those from the family of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in avenging your blood." Furthermore, the slogan of Imam Mahdi (A.S) and his supporters when they rise will be "Ya Latharat al-Husayn"—"O avengers of Hussein!"When Imam Mahdi (A.S) first appears, he will proclaim: "O people of the world, I am the sword of vengeance, and O the world, my grandfather Hussein (A.S) was killed thirsty..."
Conclusion
The uprising of Imam Mahdi (A.S) is the continuation and completion of Imam Hussein's (A.S) uprising. We must await the appearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S) so that the glorious results of this revolution may manifest.
